Mandrakes

Mandrake is an actual root/herb that exists, and got it's name because the way they form often looks like squashy, stout, twisty lil’ people.

In magical herbalism the root is seen and used as a magical charm or talisman and used for healing, renewal, protection, and amplifying the strength of magical workings.

In traditional folklore they are roots that when pulled from the soil just SCREAM and wail, with one of the stories that
prevailed being that whomever plucked one and heard its shriek would die.

BUT - that was the twisted myth.
One of the original myths about them, and the one I love the most and created these charms to embody, is that the herb was sought after by those with aching or grieving hearts.

When one plucks the mandrake from the ground, yes they wail, but they wail with you. They grieve with you, and for you, and ease that burden by carrying it with you, and perhaps help heal what caused this wound.ut I love them as talismans to connect with people's hearts.

A mix of folklore, creation and the natural world, most think of the Harry Potter world when they think of Mandrake, but they are an old, wise and potent ally in herbal magic and to those magical at heart, and creating empathic connection.
